Pontefract Racecourse is excited to announce the addition of a brand new raceday to its 2026 season calendar, set to take place on Tuesday 2nd June. This special day will not only deliver action packed racing throughout the afternoon but will also celebrate and raise awareness as well as funds for the Yorkshire Children’s Charity.
The Yorkshire Children’s Charity Raceday will help support the vital work the charity provides to children within the Yorkshire area.
Bridget Milner-Moore, Charity Development Manager at Yorkshire Children’s Charity comments: “We’re incredibly proud to be hosting Yorkshire Children’s Charity’s very first race day at Pontefract. As someone with a lifelong passion for horses and a family connection to the sport, it feels especially meaningful. We’re excited to bring together Yorkshire’s brilliant business community to celebrate racing while raising vital support for children across our region.”
About Yorkshire Children’s Charity
Yorkshire Children’s Charity launched on the 1st of January 2022 with the sole purpose of transforming the lives of disadvantaged children, from the Yorkshire Dales through to our inner cities. Through our grant-giving programmes, we address the immediate needs of children and young people living with the hardships of sickness, disability, and deprivation. Longer term, we deliver a whole host of intervention-led projects, aimed at breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty and unemployment.
Since the inception of Yorkshire Children’s Charity, we have raised £8m and supported over 58,000 children across more than 200 schools.
Alexia Chesters, Marketing and Sponsorship Manager at Pontefract Racecourse commented: “As a team we are all delighted to launch this new raceday and partner with the Yorkshire Children’s Charity to work together on raising awareness for the incredible work they do. It will be a great afternoon to showcase to racegoers the importance of the charity within the county”
Charlotte Farrington, founder and CEO of Yorkshire Children’s Charity adds: “We receive no government funding for our vital work and rely entirely on the generosity of people across our region. With one in three children in Yorkshire living in poverty, it is only through events like this – and the kindness of those who support us – that we can continue changing the lives of the children and young people who need it most.”
