There are 3 different areas or 'Enclosures' at Pontefract Racecourse - the Premier Enclosure, the Grandstand & Paddock Enclosure and the Picnic Enclosure.
Broadly speaking, the more expensive the enclosure, the better the facilities are. The more you pay, the closer you are to the Winning Post too!
But that's not to say that every enclosure does not have its advantages!
Whichever area you choose, if you decide you'd like to 'upgrade' on the day, then please visit the transfer gates or the Raceday Office where you will simply pay the difference in price between the areas!
A Premier Enclosure Badge gives access to each of the facilities listed below.
With a Premier Enclosure Badge, you also have access to all other Enclosures.
PLEASE NOTE THAT GUESTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BRING THEIR OWN FOOD AND DRINK INTO THE PREMIER ENCLOSURE.
In 2020 you can upgrade your Premier Enclosure badge to a 'Premier Gold' Experience. The 'Premier Gold' Experience brings an element of luxury to your day and includes your admission badge, along with your food for the day AND guaranteed seat (in a Restaurant or Box) for the whole day. For full details of the Premier Gold Experiences available, please click here.
This is the most popular Enclosure!
A little further away from the Winning Post but still with excellent viewing, you'll also have access to the following facilities:
The Grandstand & Paddock ticket also gives you access to the Picnic Enclosure.
The most cost effective Enclosure is the Picnic Enclosure!
With a large expanse of grass, this area is normally packed out on Sunday race meetings with families enjoying a picnic, children's rides, bouncy castles and the like!
It's open on every day and is especially popular with racegoers who like to bring their car in to the Course and park up next to the rails!
There's also a tea bar in this area and in 2020, we will be opening The Pavilion Cafe in the Picnic Enclosure. With a range of hot and cold food and drinks, betting facility and toilets, it's a great place for the family to spend a cost effective day at the races.
We have a number of facilities to assist those who may have accessibility problems including step free access to each of the enclosures at the Racecourse. We also have lifts available in the Main Stand and in the Dalby Stand giving access to all floors.
There are disabled toilets in all enclosures along with viewing ramps in every area.

Accompanied Under 18s are admitted FREE OF CHARGE in to every enclosure ON EVERY DAY!
We have three Family Sundays with loads of stuff going on for the kids - circus, face painting, funfair, pony rides and free racecards, activity books and sweets! You can even download an activity pack here!
Or why not print off an autograph sheet so that you can get the details of your favourite jockey?
We have a creche in operation in the Picnic Enclosure at every Sunday race meeting each season.
