*The information below is correct at 1pm on Tuesday 17th March and will be updated as and when further information is available and/or updated advice is received.*
At Pontefract Racecourse the safety and welfare of our visitors, racegoers, participants and team is paramount. We are keeping up to date with the latest information and advice from the Government and the British Horseracing Authority and have a team ready to implement recommended actions.
The British Horseracing Authority has indicated that racing will be cancelled from Wednesday 18th March until the end of April.
When will the first meeting at Pontefract take place?
At the moment, the first scheduled raceday at Pontefract after the racing ban will be on Friday Eve 22nd May.
What if I have already purchased raceday admission tickets?
All bookings for raceday tickets and badges in April that were made through the Pontefract Racecourse website or over the phone with the Racecourse team will be refunded in their entirety.
Customers who have purchased through third parties should contact that organisation.
Refunds will be processed over the course of the next couple of weeks.
What if I have a restaurant booking or have a private hospitality box?
You will have the option of either:
- A full refund
- Transferring your booking to an alternative race meeting later in the season subject to availability.
The Racecourse team will be in touch with you to discuss your requirements in the coming weeks
What will happen if I’m an annual badge holder?
We will be reviewing annual badge costs when we know the number of meetings that have been affected. Racing will hopefully resume in May, but we will not know the full picture for a while yet, and so I ask you to bear with us. Public health is our number one priority.
Non raceday conferences and events
Pontefract Racecourse will continue to follow advice from World Health Organisation (WHO) and Public Health England.
As racing approaches any additional measures that are recommended will be implemented.
