*The information below is correct at 5pm on Monday 4th May and will be updated as and when further information is available and/or updated advice is received.*
At Pontefract Racecourse the safety and welfare of our visitors, racegoers, participants and team is paramount. We are keeping up to date with the latest information and advice from the Government and the British Horseracing Authority and have a team ready to implement recommended actions.
The British Horseracing Authority annoucned that racing would be cancelled with immediate effect from Wednesday 18th March. While there are plans for racing to possibly resume 'behind closed doors' at some point in May/June, there will be NO admittance to members of the public until July at the earliest.
When will the first meeting at Pontefract take place?
The first race meeting that could be open to the public is on Tuesday 7th July. We will update this as and when further information is available.
What if I have already purchased raceday admission tickets?
All bookings for raceday tickets and badges in April and May that were made through the Pontefract Racecourse website or over the phone with the Racecourse team have been refunded in their entirety.
We will now start processing refunds for bookings for our three race meetings in June - Monday eve 8th June, Sunday 21st June and Monday 29th June - over the course of the next 7 to 10 days. Refunds will be made back to the same account from which the booking was made.
Customers who have purchased through third parties should contact that organisation.
What if I have a restaurant booking or have a private hospitality box?
You will have the option of either:
- A full refund
- Transferring your booking to an alternative race meeting later in the season subject to availability.
The Racecourse team will be in touch with you to discuss your requirements in the coming weeks
What will happen if I’m an annual badge holder?
We will be reviewing annual badge costs when we know the number of meetings that have been affected. Racing will hopefully resume in July, but we will not know the full picture for a while yet, and so I ask you to bear with us. Public health is our number one priority.
Non raceday conferences and events
Pontefract Racecourse will continue to follow advice from World Health Organisation (WHO) and Public Health England.
As racing approaches any additional measures that are recommended will be implemented.
